National PA Health Literacy Campaign
|
|
AAPA
Public Relations Committee is developing a campaign
for PA's on the subject of health literacy October 2006-December
2008. The focus for 2006-2007 has been focusing health literacy
on elementary children. The NDAPA Public relations chair
was recently contacted in regards to this campaign. This
is an excellent opportunity for the Academy of become involved
locally and state-wide in reaching children in various venues
- teaching about health related issues, encouraging awareness
of health lifestyles and promoting wellness.
This is an onging project through 2008.
Our immediate focus will be National PA Week in October
2007. Hopefully we can continue into the subsequent
months, and potentially gain momentum to sustain this
far into the future
There are a variety of ways that we can
get involved - reading to children at schools, local libraries,
setting up a health promotion day for children, guest
lecturing in a Health class,
there are many ways
to get involved.
There are books
available through the AAPA - attached is a list
of books and further information about the
campaign. The NDAPA Public Relations committee will apply
to the AAPA for financial assistance for purchasing books
use and to give to children at these events, but the funds
are available on a first come first serve basis. If you
would like to order books through the AAPA - please review
the list
and let me know ASAP what books, and how many you need
and I will submit your request. Please consider a deadline
of August 17th, 2007.
